About St Austell

The old market town of St Austell is just a few miles from the coast and is one of Cornwall’s biggest towns. St Austell town centre itself offers a wide range of facilities including, shops, and cafes. Restaurants, pubs and leisure facilities. The Parish Church is Holy Trinity, itself in the centre of St Austell . There are also two, more traditional, churches within the parish at Pentewan and Porthpean

The newly opened town centre shopping precinct ‘White River Place’ boasts a cinema complex together with new to the area retail outlets and restaurants.

Located on the south coast of Cornwall, St Austell is a popular tourist destination, located along the main Paddington to Penzance railway line, and only a few miles from the main A30 giving access up and down the county, and beyond.

The town is also serviced by two bus companies providing regular services from the train station to most outlying areas including Fowey, Mevagissey and Newquay. The beautiful port of Charlestown has been attracting thousands of visitors for many years, where more often than not all ships can be seen docked; this is also popular filming location. The Shipwreck and Heritage Centre stands above the old harbour and houses many artifacts ranging from the Titanic to diving equipment.
